The Challenge UDL Group Faced Before Tugger
UDL had migrated away from using NetSuite as an ERP system as an application of this size and complexity was not required by the business. They wanted to simplify things and in doing this they decided to adopt Xero. This was all great, except this posed a big challenge for them. In moving their operations to Xero, UDL had lost all visibility at their company group level. They were able to report on each company within the group, but visibility from the top level was basically non- existent. This meant that their company executives and directors were quite literally “flying blind.”
Why UDL Group Chose Tugger
UDL had spent weeks attempting to build their own bespoke integration between Microsoft Power BI and Xero and were not able to successfully connect the two together. They also tried the out of the box Xero Power BI Connector that is provided through Power BI desktop, however, that was deprecated some time ago, and so this was unable to provide them with a solution either.
Following on from this, UDL researched the market to see what was available and came across lots of other people that had successfully implemented Tugger within their own organisations. Having wasted time and effort trying to build their own bespoke connector for Xero they decided to give Tugger a whirl and were blown away by its ease of use. Not only were UDL Group able to connect Power BI to Xero in a matter of minutes using Tugger, but they were also provided with out-of- the-box Power BI reports that gave them a massive head start when it came to solving their data blindness.
I've never encountered something as user-friendly as Tugger – a simple flip of the switch, and it's up and running. I was genuinely impressed. With standard reporting templates right from the start, I gained instant visibility into our individual companies and entities. To be honest, it was quite remarkable.
The customer service is outstanding. I had set high expectations, but Tugger managed to surpass them. They were able to provide complete visibility within a mere couple of hours, which was truly remarkable.
How UDL Group Used Tugger
The out of-the-box Xero reports were found to be amazing for UDL. Instantly, UDL had visibility on every entity within their group, however, they were still missing that consolidated view, which was the key requirement UDL needed to find a solution for. Matthew, their CIO, reached out to Tugger, explaining the problem they were facing, and after engaging with Tugger, the professional services team was able to quickly design and develop the report UDL needed. Matthew was completely stunned when he had that report up and running in just a few days.
We now have complete visibility. Tracking our revenue, gross profit margin, and overheads against our annual budget is effortless. This allows us to monitor our progress toward our targets with precision.
The Results
UDL company executives and directors now have dashboards and reports at their fingertips. They no longer need to guess or try and manually work out how their whole group is doing, they can just open Power BI and see this information immediately. The reports are all completely interactive, so if they want to drill down into any entity within their group, they can do this with a click of the mouse. And, the data from Xero is pulled into these reports automatically, so they are never looking at out-of-date information, enabling them to make data -backed, informed decisions. No longer are they flying blind, but instead, flying with their eyes wide open.
Before implementing Tugger, our reporting was virtually non-existent, and we felt like we were navigating in the dark. Tugger changed the game for us!
