From weeks of digging, to just asking.
Envirotech puts Tugger® AI Insights to work on its Simpro® and Xero data. Analysis that used to take weeks now happens in a conversation.
About Envirotech
Envirotech Facilities Management (EFM) is a B Corp-certified FM management company, operating as an intelligent management layer over a vetted subcontractor supply chain, as well as delivering Hard Services. With offices in Birmingham, London and Dublin, EFM delivers services across retail parks, shopping centres and commercial offices. Day to day, they run on Simpro for job management, Xero for finance, and SharePoint and email for the record of what actually happens on site.
Jeff Smith, Director of Digital Solutions at Envirotech, first came to Tugger to transform the company's Simpro reporting. Chapter two is bigger. Jeff's now connected those same systems to Claude through Tugger AI Insights, and it's changed how he thinks about the data the business already holds.
"All AI really is, is the human experience. All of that data, all of those learnings. We've built the company on great IP. What this does is show you how much more you could be doing with it."
The questions that never got answered
For years, getting a real answer out of the business meant doing it the hard way. Reams of data pulled by hand, reports read line by line, everything rebuilt in Excel and Word before a decision could be made. One piece of analysis could take days, sometimes weeks.
So most of it never happened. The questions were there, the data was there, but connecting the two cost more time than anyone had, and a backlog of unanswered questions just kept growing.
I’d been doing this and doing that, building workarounds and overcoming things for years. There was a pent-up demand that never got dealt with, because the effort needed to meet it was just too expensive.
There was a quieter problem too. Without a fast, neutral way to interrogate the data, decisions got shaped by opinion, habit and office or client politics. Things were done a certain way, because they'd always been done that way, not because anyone had checked.
The lift, the standard, and the fifteen minutes
With AI Insights, Jeff asks questions of his own systems the way he'd ask a colleague. Here's what that looked like the day it mattered.
The incident. A lift entrapment at a site in Birmingham. Jeff needs to understand how well it was handled.
The picture. He pulls the correspondence and reports together and asks Claude to build the picture.
The standard. Claude establishes the UK industry standard for releasing someone from a lift, including response times.
The finding. The response ran fifteen minutes over the one-hour standard, traced to a missed call from site security and the in-lift phone.
The evidence. Jeff pulls the job and quote history for those lifts through Tugger, and layers in the inspection records.
The result. A detailed, evidence-based investigation he can read, question and keep refining.
That report would never have been written the old way. Working with the AI agent through Tugger, blending Simpro, Xero and my other systems together, I came up with a really detailed, factual investigation, and I can keep refining it.
Facts beat politics
Jeff's honest about the first win. It's not been about replacing people, it's been about finally clearing that backlog of unanswered questions, and holding up a mirror to how the business had been working. Some of what the numbers showed was uncomfortable, all of it was useful.
He likens the discipline to Six Sigma. Methodical, evidence-led and, in his words, "anti-politics." Claude works from the data, not from anyone's opinion or seniority. Personalities leave the conversation, decisions get made on fact, and processes get judged on whether they actually work.
It gives me facts, so it’s fact-based rather than opinion. That’s only because I’ve got the data, I can access it, and I can ask natural-language questions of my own systems.
It changes difficult meetings too. Where a contested discussion once came down to who argued hardest, Jeff now arrives with the evidence already assembled. Standards, response times, job histories, costs. You can argue with a person, but it's much harder to argue with the facts.
Would Jeff recommend it?
He already has. Jeff's introduced Tugger to one of Envirotech's primary customers so their systems can be connected too. Connecting to their finance system shows whether funds exist for quoted work, so effort goes where it will be paid. Not sentiment, he's quick to say, but value to his own business.
"Give us a few more months, and we'll have stripped out the work we never needed to do. We'll be leaner, and we'll be further ahead of competitors who are still happy with politics and denial."
Tugger has revealed data that has given us brand new ideas around the ways in which we can deliver our service to our customers. If you want somebody to work with to grow your business, you definitely need to work with Tugger.
