How to connect Prospect CRM (ProspectSoft) to Claude
Prospect CRM, the B2B CRM from ProspectSoft (also sold as Prospect 365), has no Claude connector of its own, so asking Claude about your pipeline, quotes or stock still means exporting a report and pasting it in. This guide covers how to connect Prospect CRM to Claude properly, using Tugger and its built-in MCP server, so you can ask "what's our open pipeline by stage" or "which lead source brings in the most" and get an answer from your own CRM data. Setup takes a Tugger account, a Personal Access Token from Prospect CRM and about ten minutes.
What you can ask once Prospect CRM is connected to Claude
Tugger syncs your Prospect CRM data on a schedule into a managed data warehouse, then exposes that warehouse to Claude through a read-only MCP server. Claude queries the warehouse, never Prospect CRM itself, so nothing Claude does can change a record.
Typical questions:
- What is our open pipeline by stage, in value and number of leads?
- What is our win rate by value this year, and how does it compare with last year?
- Which lead source produces the most pipeline, and which converts best?
- What did we invoice by month over the last twelve months, net of credit notes?
- Which quotes over £5,000 have been open for more than 30 days?
- Which products are on open sales orders but short of stock in the main warehouse?
Claude writes the query, runs it and explains the result. You can follow up in the same conversation, ask for a chart, or ask Claude to build a dashboard and bake the figures in.
What you need
- A Tugger account. You can start a free 10-day trial if you don't have one.
- A Prospect CRM user with CRM Admin rights, to create the Personal Access Token.
- A Claude plan that supports connectors (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise).
Step 1: add the Prospect CRM connector in Tugger
- Log in to Tugger, click Add Connector and choose Prospect CRM.
- Give the connector a name, such as "Prospect CRM", and choose how far back you want history to sync from. Further back means more data and a longer first sync.
- Scroll to Prospect CRM Credentials. You'll see a Personal Access Token field and a Check Credentials button. Leave this tab open.
Step 2: create a Personal Access Token in Prospect CRM
Tugger reads Prospect CRM through its OData API, authorised with a token tied to a user. The token lets Tugger read your data without ever needing your password.
- Log in to Prospect CRM, click your user icon in the bottom left and open Personal Settings.
- Go to Tokens and click Create Token. The Tokens page only appears for users with Admin permissions; if you can't see it, ask your Prospect CRM administrator to create the token.
- Tick the ProspectSoft.OData scope. Without it the token can't read data.
- Give it a description you'll recognise, such as "Tugger", and choose an expiry date. When a token expires the connector stops pulling new data until you create a replacement, so pick a date you'll remember, or choose Never. You can revoke it at any time.
- Click Create and copy the token straight away. Prospect CRM shows it once.
Back in Tugger, paste the token into the Personal Access Token field, click Check Credentials and wait for the green "Credentials verified successfully" message, then click Save Connector Settings. If the check fails, the usual causes are a token copied incompletely or one created without the ProspectSoft.OData scope.
Tugger runs a first sync and then refreshes every day at 08:00 UK time by default; you can change the schedule in Tugger. You'll get an email when the data is ready. If you have more than one Prospect CRM workspace, each needs its own connector and its own token.
Step 3: add Tugger's MCP server to Claude
- In Tugger, open AI Insights and copy your MCP server URL.
- In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it "Tugger" and paste the MCP server URL.
- Click Add, then Connect, and sign in to Tugger when prompted.
In any new chat, open the connectors menu and switch Tugger on. Claude can now see the tables Tugger has synced from Prospect CRM.
Step 4: ask your first question
Start with something simple to confirm the connection is working:
"Show me the open pipeline by stage, with value and number of leads."
Then try the dashboard prompt we use in the walkthrough video, changing the stages and dates to match your setup:
"Using my Prospect CRM connector in Tugger, build me a sales dashboard. At the top, show the open pipeline (leads at Qualified, In Sales Process, Quote, Pushing for Close or Awaiting PO) with its value and number of leads, the value of leads won, and our win rate by value against cancelled leads. Then add the open pipeline by stage in that order, and invoiced revenue by month for the last twelve months, net of credit notes, with the total. Keep it clean and easy to read, and bake the figures into the dashboard."
Claude will identify the lead, quote and invoice tables, run the queries and return a dashboard. From there you can ask follow-ups, such as adding the pipeline by lead source and asking which one is worth more attention.
What syncs from Prospect CRM
Tugger brings across the full sales cycle plus the product, stock and reference tables you need to label it properly. Custom fields on leads, quotes, companies, contacts and products come through as well.
| Area | Data |
|---|---|
| Companies and contacts | Companies, divisions, contacts, addresses, roles, territories, account managers |
| Leads and enquiries | Leads with pipeline, status, source, size, owner and salesperson; enquiries and enquiry forms; lead action logs |
| Quotes and sales orders | Quotes and quote lines, quote status and type, sales order headers, price bands and price lists, promotions |
| Invoices and payments | Sales invoice and credit note headers, sales transactions, sales ledgers, payment receipts, payment terms |
| Purchasing | Purchase ledgers, purchase order requests and lines, purchase transactions, product suppliers |
| Products and stock | Product items, categories and families, bills of materials, stock by warehouse and by bin, serial numbers, inventories |
| Marketing | Campaigns, campaign activities and contacts, email marketing history and events, activity feeds |
| Service | Problems (support cases) with status, type and source; contracts and schedules; jobs, bookings and tasks |
| Reference data | Users, currencies, VAT rates, countries, delivery methods and zones, warehouses |
Tugger also includes a ready-made revenue view that combines invoices and credit notes with the customer resolved, so revenue questions give the right answer without Claude needing to know which transaction types count as billed sales. If you need something that isn't listed, ask us; Tugger's connectors are extended based on customer requests.
Why a warehouse rather than a direct connection
You could point an automation tool or a custom MCP server at Prospect CRM's API directly. Three reasons to put a warehouse in between.
- Read-only by design. Claude queries a copy, so a mistyped question can't change a quote or a stock figure.
- Full history, consistent answers. Questions run across every lead, quote and invoice rather than one API page at a time, and the tables and relationships are fixed, so the same question gives the same answer next week.
- The rest of your systems are there too. Once Prospect CRM is in the warehouse alongside Xero, Unleashed or Cin7, Claude can match Prospect CRM orders to accounts invoices or warehouse stock in one question.
Tugger is UK-based and ISO 27001:2022 certified. Your warehouse is hosted on Azure, in the UK by default or any Azure region on request, and the same warehouse feeds Power BI and Tableau if you use them. Tugger's MCP server works with Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini.
