How to Connect Unleashed to Claude
Unleashed holds your products, stock on hand, sales orders, purchase orders, assemblies and customers. Claude can answer questions about all of it in natural language, but only if it has a way to reach the data, and Unleashed has no Claude connector of its own. This guide walks through connecting Unleashed to Claude using Tugger's built-in MCP server, so you can ask things like "which products are below reorder point at the Manchester warehouse" or "what was our margin by customer group last quarter" and get an answer from your own numbers.
One point of confusion to clear up first: this is Unleashed Software, the inventory and manufacturing platform used by product businesses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, not Unleash, the feature-flag tool for developers. If you have searched for "Unleashed MCP server" and found feature-flag results, that is why.
What you can ask once Unleashed is connected to Claude
Tugger syncs your Unleashed data on a schedule into a managed data warehouse, then exposes that warehouse to Claude through an MCP server. Claude queries the warehouse, not Unleashed directly, which keeps the connection read-only and means Claude never touches your production system.
Typical questions:
- Which products are below their minimum stock level, by warehouse?
- What was our sales margin by customer type for each of the last six months?
- Which sales orders are open and past their required delivery date?
- What are our top twenty products by units sold this year, and how many days of stock do we hold for each?
- Which suppliers have open purchase orders, and what is the total outstanding value?
Claude writes the query, runs it against the warehouse, and explains the result. You can follow up in the same conversation, ask for a chart, or ask Claude to compare two periods.
What you need
- A Tugger account. You can start a free 10-day trial if you don't have one.
- Admin access to your Unleashed account, so you can create API credentials.
- A Claude plan that supports connectors (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise).
Step 1: connect Unleashed to Tugger
- In Unleashed, go to Integration, then Unleashed API Access.
- Copy the API ID and API Key shown there. If no key exists, generate one.
- Log in to Tugger, go to Connectors and choose Unleashed.
- Paste the API ID and API Key into the Tugger connector and save.
Tugger runs a first sync and then refreshes on a schedule. You can see sync status and history in the Tugger dashboard.
Step 2: add Tugger's MCP server to Claude
- In Tugger, open AI Insights and copy your MCP server URL.
- In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it "Tugger" and paste the MCP server URL.
- Click Add, then Connect, and sign in to Tugger when prompted.
In any new chat, open the connectors menu and switch Tugger on. Claude can now see the tables Tugger has synced from Unleashed.
Step 3: ask your first question
"Show me stock on hand by warehouse for our ten best-selling products, with the minimum stock level for each."
Claude will identify the product, stock on hand and warehouse tables, run the query and return the result. From there you can ask follow-ups, request a chart, or ask Claude to explain how it built the query.

Tugger's Unleashed connector syncs 38 tables covering the areas below.

If you need an entity that isn't listed, ask us. Tugger's connectors are extended based on customer requests.
Why go through a warehouse rather than a direct API connection?
Because Unleashed has no Claude connector of its own, the alternative is a generic API-to-AI tool that calls the Unleashed API each time you ask a question. That works for one-off lookups, but it has three drawbacks for reporting.
- Write access. A direct API connection can often create orders or adjust stock. Tugger's MCP server is read-only by design, so a mistyped question can't change anything in Unleashed.
- Query load and rate limits. Analytical questions such as "margin by customer type by month" mean pulling every sales line through the API on each question, and Unleashed's API has request limits. Tugger syncs once on a schedule and Claude queries the warehouse, so Unleashed isn't hit repeatedly.
- Single source. Once Unleashed is in the warehouse alongside Xero, Shopify or HubSpot, Claude can answer questions that span systems, such as matching Unleashed sales invoices to Xero payments, or Shopify orders to Unleashed fulfilment.
Tugger is UK-based and ISO 27001:2022 certified. The same warehouse also feeds Power BI and Tableau if you use them, and the MCP server works with Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini.
