How to Connect MYOB to Claude
MYOB holds your invoices, bills, customer balances, ledger and payroll. Claude can answer questions about all of it in natural language, but only if it has a way to reach the data. There are now two ways to connect MYOB to Claude: MYOB's own connector, which is in beta for some Australian MYOB Business customers, and Tugger, which works with MYOB Business and AccountRight in Australia and New Zealand. This guide covers both, and when you'd use each.
What you can ask once MYOB is connected to Claude
Either route lets Claude read your MYOB records and answer questions from your own numbers. With Tugger, your MYOB data syncs on a schedule into a managed data warehouse, and Claude queries that warehouse through Tugger's read-only MCP server.
Typical questions:
- Which customers have invoices more than 60 days overdue, and how much do they owe?
- What was our gross profit by month for the last two financial years?
- Which suppliers have we spent the most with this financial year?
- How does this quarter's revenue compare with the same quarter last year?
- Which jobs are running over their budgeted cost?
Claude writes the query, runs it, and explains the result. You can follow up in the same conversation, ask for a chart, or ask Claude to break a figure down further.
MYOB's own Claude connector
In August 2026 MYOB announced a connector for Claude and ChatGPT, rolling out in phases through each app's directory. It gives Claude access to MYOB financial insights such as customer balances, overdue invoices and profit and loss.
To use it you need an invitation to the beta, an active MYOB Business Pro subscription in Australia, and a Claude plan that supports connectors. If you have all three:
- In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Browse the connector directory and find MYOB.
- Click Connect and sign in with your MYOB username and password.
- Choose the MYOB business you want Claude to see.
MYOB notes that the session can expire, in which case you sign in to MYOB again from inside Claude. It also recommends switching off model training in your Claude settings before connecting.
Where the official connector stops
MYOB's connector is a good option for one-off look-ups on a single Australian MYOB Business file. It's less suited to reporting, for four reasons.
- Availability. It's a beta for MYOB Business Pro customers in Australia. New Zealand businesses, AccountRight users and other MYOB Business plans can't use it yet.
- Coverage. MYOB lists payroll among the things it doesn't support, and it publishes no list of the data its connector can reach.
- History and trends. Questions such as "gross profit by month for two years" need a lot of records. A warehouse holds them in one place, so Claude can compare periods without pulling everything through the MYOB API each time.
- Other systems. MYOB's connector only sees MYOB. Once MYOB sits in a warehouse alongside Simpro, HubSpot or Shopify, Claude can answer questions that span systems, such as matching job costs to invoices.
What you need for the Tugger route
- A Tugger account. You can start a free 10-day trial if you don't have one.
- A MYOB login with access to the company file you want to connect.
- A Claude plan that supports connectors (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise).
Step 1: connect MYOB to Tugger
Log in to Tugger, go to Connectors and choose MYOB.
- Sign in with your MYOB account when prompted.
- Approve Tugger's request for read access to your MYOB data.
- Choose the company file you want to connect.
- Save the connector.
Once saved, Tugger runs a first sync and then refreshes on a schedule. You can see sync status and history in the Tugger dashboard. If you run more than one company file, add each as its own connector and Claude can query them together.
Step 2: add Tugger's MCP server to Claude
- In Tugger, open AI Insights and copy your MCP server URL.
- In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it "Tugger" and paste the MCP server URL.
- Click Add, then Connect, and sign in to Tugger when prompted.
In any new chat, open the connectors menu and switch Tugger on. Claude can now see the tables Tugger has synced from MYOB.
Step 3: ask your first question
Start with something simple to confirm the connection is working:
"Show me our ten largest overdue customer balances, oldest first."
Claude will identify the relevant tables, run the query and return the result. From there you can ask follow-ups, request a chart, or ask Claude to explain how it built the query.
What syncs from MYOB
Tugger brings across the core accounting entities from your MYOB company file.
| Data | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Customers and suppliers | Contact records, balances and terms |
| Sales invoices and orders | Invoices, quotes, orders and customer payments |
| Purchase bills and orders | Bills, purchase orders and supplier payments |
| Chart of accounts and journals | Accounts, general journal entries and ledger transactions |
| Items and inventory | Items, prices and quantities on hand |
| Jobs | Job records for job costing |
| Tax codes | GST codes and rates |
If you need an entity that isn't listed, ask us. Tugger's MYOB connector is extended based on customer requests.
Which should you use?
| MYOB's connector | Tugger | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can use it | Invited MYOB Business Pro customers in Australia | MYOB Business and AccountRight, Australia and New Zealand |
| Good for | Look-ups on balances, overdue invoices and P&L | Reporting, trends and history |
| Other systems | MYOB only | MYOB plus 70+ other connectors |
| AI tools | Claude, ChatGPT | Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini |
| Dashboards | No | Power BI and Tableau from the same warehouse |
If you're on MYOB Business Pro in Australia and only need answers from one file, try MYOB's connector first. If you're in New Zealand, on AccountRight, need history or want MYOB alongside your other systems, use Tugger. Both are read-only, so you can run them side by side.
Tugger is UK-based and ISO 27001:2022 certified. Your warehouse is hosted on Azure, and Australia East is available for ANZ customers.
